Thumbelina
Tonight we had plans to hit up Kate's 3rd birthday party, and then a wedding of a family friend. They were both interrupted when while we were getting ready, Addi grabbed ahold of the hot end of my curling iron and gave herself 2nd degree burns on a large part of her thumb. I stepped out of the bathroom for literally 5 seconds, and as I slipped out, I didn't see Addi slip in. I caught her just as she grabbed the curling iron. It was so sad. As I was apologizing to Ian that it happened, he replied, "It's okay, it's not your fault you were not born with curly hair." Leave it to Ian to lighten up a situation. She sobbed all the way to Kaiser and when we got there, she was so upset that she threw up. Luckily I am a pro at catching her puke. They soaked her hand in saline and luckily while it was soaking she fell asleep in my arms. They bandaged her blistered hand up and we were good to go. The most priceless part of the day, however, was when Ian was getting her out of her car seat when we got home, she looked at him and said, "Daddy, I feel better. Fingers went night nights." Her demeanor is back to normal, but we have a long road ahead of us until it is healed.

Oh this makes me so sad. Oh I hope she feels better.
That Addi, she's a sneaky one!
Finally some new posts! Those pictures are so beautiful of you two! But that stinks about the burn...that happened to Grace around the same age, but it was on the thumb she sucked, so she couldn't go to sleep or calm herself- it was sad!
Oh, poor Addi! I'm so sorry you guys missed the party and more sorry about her hand. I hope it heals quickly. We'll get together soon. Let's set it up.
Oh my gosh, these pictures break my heart. That must have been pretty painful for her. But at least her fingers went night night in the end. So cute. Kiss her little thumb for me. Love you guys.
oh poor sweet girl!!! gotta love a good Ianisum!!!
oh sotutu! Sad. I love Ian's comment about you not being born with curly hair-hilarious.
Choober sends his love for a speedy recovery. He hopes to hold hands with you again real soon.
PS we have your my little pony. The one with the ears.
Addi is the sweetest little girl. I'm glad Ian made a joke about you not being born with curly hair instead of being upset. You two are awesome parents.
That's horrible. Sheez.
Oh! So sad. My little Eva did pretty much the same thing, and I almost died of sadness. Dang curling irons! Now every time she sees it, she says, "Ow, Mommy, HOT!" She gets it now. Hopefully it never happens again! Poor little Addi!
Hey you two. Can anyone say BABY TIME!!!
