Camano Island

This month Addi, Von and I made a trip up to Washington to see my parents and grandparents. It was my first time flying alone with the two of them and lucky for me they were both great. I did, however have to resort to putting Addi on a leash to get through the airport. It worked like a charm. This is Addi bundled up for a ride on the four-wheeler with Papa H.
Every night after dinner, my dad would take Addi on a ride to the county park to go throw rocks.
So fun.
The kids with "my Grandma" and "my Grandpa," as Addi calls them. Addi loves my grandparents. My grandpa painted with her everyday and Addi cleaned out my grandma's cookie jar by the end of the week.
Four generations.
My grandpa is a big kid at heart. This is them dancing.
He also taught Addi how to play rock, paper, scissors. I was surprised how fast she caught on. After everytime, she would say "again, again." And they would do it again and again and again.
89 going on 12. Oh Earl!

Happy Birthday Ian!

Ian turned 30 on the 11th. (I am a little behind on my blogging). He has come a long way since this picture. Here are 30 things about Ian...
1. He is a collector. He loves to collect music, books, DVDs, vintage clothes and RVCA t-shirts to name a few.
2. He plays basketball at least 3 times a week, religiously. He is often "player of the week" in his city league, due to his 3 point shot.
3. He loves a good deal. He loves all things outlet or discount.
4. He was meant to live in the eighties.
5. Was born on March 11th, 1979 in Torrance, CA.
6. He is a tease, especially to his sisters.
7. He is a good daddy.
8. He loves movies. He has introduced Addi to all of the greats that he grew up on... "The Gremlins," "Labyrinth," and "Short Circuit" to name a few.
9. He loves music. To create it, play it and to listen to it. He loves it. I always tease him that if he had to choose between me and music, I am not sure that I would win.
10. He played soccer and did karate as a kid.
11. He flirts with strangers, especially people who do not speak English or who are elderly.
12. He aspires to be a writer.
13. He is a foodie, and would have liked to go to culinary school.
14. He has lived in California, Idaho, Mexico and Hawaii.
15. He is sensitive to light. Our house is always dark because light triggers migraines for him.
16. He loves his family, especially his babies.
17. He is spiritual and a good example to his family.
18. He is the family therapist. Whenever there is a problem, he is the one that they go to for help.
19. He is a self-proclaimed nerd.
20. He spends many late nights on-line playing x-box with his sister and friends. So if you hear "Come on guys, let's stick together!" coming from our house at 1 am, that is why.
21. He really wants to get back into camping, but does not have a very supportive wife in that aspect of our lives.
22. He is an Eagle Scout.
23. He served a mission to Monterey, Mexico.
24. He graduated from BYU-Hawaii.
25. He has big dreams for himself and our family.
26. He really likes Battlestar Gallactica.
27. A virus attacked his heart when he was 19, causing him to collapse on the basketball floor.
28. He survived a hurricane and helped more than 200 people get to safety during it.
29. He was bit by a dog as a kid and had to have stitches.
30. He loves his many hobbies and is good at them.

Disneyland

The week of Ian's birthday, he took a day off so we could activate our season passes and enjoy a day at Disneyland. It just so happened that Jaime and Dan were coming up that weekend to make their yearly stay at the Disneyland Hotel. So we joined them at the pool the day they checked in.
It took Addi seeing Luke going down the slide to convince her that she could do it too. Jaime was a good sport and \caught them as they fell into the pool (the pool was a little cold for me). Since Addi is now potty trained, she can wear her swimsuit without a diaper. How cute is this?
Addi and Luke love two things...each other and Star Wars. Addi has been OBSESSED with The Ewoks lately. When she asks it she always says "Not Skywalker Luke Starwars, Cindel Starwars (the little blonde girl in Ewoks).
Jumping on the bed.
Our little Minnie Mouse.
Addi was trying to hold his hand. He was trying to shake her off.
It was Von's first trip to Disneyland. I had to document it.

Isn't she lovely...

While I was doing my make-up this morning, Addi decided to join me. I tried to tell her, "less is more." She didn't really get it.

Congrats Kelly & Jason!

The happy couple!
The BEAUTIFUL Bride
Addi & Conrad on the dance floor.
Addi was too busy running around the entire time we were at the reception to stop and take a picture. So, it's just the three of us. Von is already having to sport the bib. Addi wore one until she was two, hopefully, Von will not have to for so long. It was a beautiful day and we are so happy for them!

Long Beach Aquarium

On Wednesday, I took the kids on our first "big" excursion by myself. When my parents were here the bought us a season pass to the aquarium, beacause Addi LOVES animals. We had a good time. Luckily, Addi behaved herself, staying in the stroller most of the time. And although Von was awake the whole time we were there, he was pretty content too.
Addi took this picture of the diver. When she saw him in the tank, she pointed and said, "Look Mom, that's my dad in there." Apparently, Ian got a side job as a diver.
I LOVE my new stroller, I can take the kids anywhere with it. Lately, Kori and I have been really good about getting a little exercise, walking 3 miles at the beach 3-4 times a week. This stroller makes it all possible.
After we got home, I had my usual battle with Addi to get her to eat something. This girl does not like to eat. It is a struggle at every meal. She ended up falling asleep in her high chair.

Barack Obama

Ever since the election with all of the imagery and media obsession, Addi has become aware and interested in our new president. She will get on our phones, go to abc.com and search for Barack Obama videos. So we played into her little obsession and taught her a few things. Oh...she also is really into dressing up, hence the hula ensemble.

Stylin'

My good friend D made this great onesie for Von. It is Ian's favorite article of clothing Von has and I was so happy yesterday when he fit into it for church. This kid is growing by the day. I pulled out Addi's medical records last night to see how old she was when she was Von's size. They were the same height and weight when Von was two months and Addi was 5 1/2 months! To check out more of D's stuff go to her blog at www.babybumpkins.blogspot.com, or her etsy shop at BabyBumpkins.Etsy.com. They have the cutest onesies, t-shirts and hair clips.
