All Aboard!

On Thursday, we were invited by the Olds to go out on their "boat" with them and some of our friends. This "boat," however, was not a boat, but an 82 foot yacht. It was amazing. Unbelievable. The nicest and biggest "boat" in the harbor. It was so nice to have a night away from the kids, and even nicer to be surrounded by good friends and beautiful scenery.

Us on the bow. Ian and I always take pictures of ourselves just like this. I kind of pride myself at being so good at always getting the perfect shot. I didn't realize, however, until I uploaded the pictures to my computer that I had that horrible shadow. Good job Alisa.
The captain drove us down to Dana Point, where we had dinner and docked to get hot chocolate and ice cream.

Utah

Last weekend, for Father's Day we went to Utah to see family. Lots of family. We were initially going to see Ian's grandparents, but it just so happened that my parents were going to be there too. The schedule was crazy. My kids flew out on Wednesday with Marsha and Brooke because I had to work, I flew out Thursday morning and Ian flew out Friday night. On Thursday, my parents picked me up and we went to get Addi and Von and then headed to my sisters.
Friday morning, I met up with three of my old roommates at the Thanksgiving Point farm. Addi went on the pony rider three times and was in heaven. It was good to see everyone and get all of our kids together. I love my friends! They are like family to me.

Jill, Erin, D and me. Between the four of us we have 8 kids and one on the way. D is getting ready to move out to Oahu with her husband and daughter, so I was glad to get a chance to see her one last time on the mainland.
Von and Buck on the plane. He was so good the entire trip. he flies like a champ. Sidenote about Addi...you know that your 3 1/2 year old flies too much when she reminds you to take your baby's shoes off before going through security. I tried to count how many times she has flown in her short little life and off the top of my head I could remember over 30 different flights. She is a pro.

Swim

Von started swim lessons this month with Scott. He loves the water, but lessons can be a whole different ball game. He did great at the first one, did not cry once, even when his face was put under water or when he had to float on his back.
He took to Scott really well, smiling the whole time.
The second lesson was very different. He was not a happy being forced to float or having his face put under. He cried almost the entire time. It is totally worth the tears, however, to know that someday he will be a safer kid around the water, and we look forward to seeing his progress.

6 months

Von turned six months old today. We went for his check up and he is officially a big boy! He was 19 pounds 3 ounces and in the 75th percentile for weight and was 28.5 inches long and in the 95th percentile for height! He started swim lessons this week, pictures to come, and is still our happy boy!

New Do

I came home from work on Monday to find that Chelcie (with Ian's permission) had taken the scissors and texturing sheers to Von's hair. What 6 month old white kid needs his hair to be texturized? Mine. I love it, he looks like a little man. The only sad part is that his hair has grown in much lighter than what it was when he has born, so his dark brown hair is now light brown hair.
Addi loves it too.
Here is the side view. Chelcie sent home some product with her newest client. It's Aveda, so now my baby smells like weed. At least it is all natural, right?

Another week in review...

Another busy week for us (although, when is a week not busy for us?). Here are some highlights...
This is what happens when you let a three year old dress herself. If you look closely, her shirt is on inside out and her pants backwards. Addi though she did a great job, so we let her think so.
Yesterday, I met up with Vauri and her kids at the "farm." The OC fairground's farm is open to the public for free in the afternoons, so we took advantage. It is not like the farms I grew up visiting (REAL farms, with hundreds of cows. I have even seen cows giving birth), but for the OC, it was pretty good. It was the first time Addi and Owen had met and they hit it off right away.

On Saturday, we went to Dallin's Star Wars birthday party.
It wouldn't be a party without Princess Leia.
As we were leaving Addi saw this manhole in the street. She was so excited, she said, "Look, that's where the turtles live." As in the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. She is definitely her father's daughter. She could watch TMNT and/or Star Wars all day.
Last Friday, a Rascals to Rebels brought in a photographer and did free mini-sessions. So, I thought I would give it a try because it was free (you just had to pay for the pictures you liked) and you never know how your kids are going to behave, right? Here are a couple of pictures the photographer posted on her blog. I ended up buying different ones and will post those soon.
I never realize how chubby Von's cheeks are until I see them in pictures. They are really the chubbiest part of his body.

A week in review...

As usual, it has been a busy week in the Clawson house. Here are a few highlights...
We met up with my old Rick's roommate Necia, who was in town from Arizona, at the beach in CDM. This picture makes it look like we had great weather. We did not. It was overcast and the water was freezing. That did not stop Addi, she played in the water for almost two hours.
Ian plays basketball every Wednesday night. This last Wednesday, he got home at about ten. I was already in bed with my contacts off. When I do not have my contacts or glasses on, I cannot see anything. My hand in front of my face is blurry. He said he got elbowed in the eye and had a goose egg. I was picturing a small bump. I went to sleep and the next morning when I woke up, put my glasses on and had a good look at him, I laughed out loud. I am horrible, and am still laughing. It is even more purple today, it looks like he has guyliner on. He did, however score 35 points in his game and had eight threes. Player of the game? I think so.
On Memorial Day, we hit up the ward picnic and then took a dip at the Clawson's. Von and his hair had a good time swimming. He starts swim lessons this week with Scott, so we will see if he still likes the water then.Best baby ever, right? One morning, I was cleaning and getting ready for our walk when I found Von sound asleep on the floor. Him and Addi had been watching the old school Transformers movie and he decided it was time for his morning nap. Love it. We also had Kate and Luke's birthday party at My Gym last weekend (great place to have a toddler's birthday btw), but unfortunately the battery on my camera was dead. Addi had a blast and it was great for the parents too.
